Nestled in the heart of Naperville, Xi’an Cuisine offers an authentic journey into the rich and diverse world of Chinese gastronomy, with a particular focus on the bold flavors of Xi’an and Sichuan regions. This Chinese noodle and Asian restaurant impresses with a menu that bursts with traditional favorites such as the hand-pulled Biang Biang Noodles, aromatic Cumin Lamb, and the refreshing Liangpi cold noodles. Fans of spice and vibrant tastes will delight in the Dan Dan Noodle and the famously fiery Mapo Tofu with tender fish slices, each dish delivering a perfect balance of heat and umami that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
The dining atmosphere at Xi’an Cuisine strikes a wonderful balance between lively and inviting. The crowd predominantly consists of discerning Asian diners, a strong indicator of the kitchen’s authentic approach and consistent quality. The buzz of conversation, accompanied by the clinking of chopsticks and the savory aroma drifting from the kitchen, creates a vibrant backdrop ideal for both casual gatherings and family meals.
Beyond the noodles, the menu showcases a broad spectrum of flavors and textures—from the crispy, flaky Pork Flatbread to the juicy, spice-kissed Chicken and Beef Skewers. The combination of Orange Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice offers a comforting yet exciting twist on staple favorites, while the cooling Cucumber Salad provides a refreshing counterpoint to the spicier sensations on offer. For those seeking something that goes beyond the ordinary, the Chef’s Specials such as the Happy Family (shrimp, beef, and scallop) or the sumptuous Four Seasons plate stand as true culinary highlights, promising an indulgent experience with every bite.
Diners appreciate the generous portions and reasonable pricing, with many noting the value of the dinner specials like Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Chicken each priced at $15.95 — an excellent choice for both flavor and affordability. Alongside the food, the beverage selection featuring Jasmine Tea, Honey Grapefruit Juice, and the unique Herbal Beverage add thoughtful and refreshing accompaniments to every meal.
Customer reflections capture the essence of Xi’an Cuisine’s appeal. Kathleen Tan notes the authenticity immediately upon arrival, pointing to the predominance of Asian clientele as a reassuring sign of quality. Meanwhile, Piggly Wiggly praises the flavorful Sichuan dishes, particularly the lamb noodle soup's comforting, well-balanced seasoning. Families, like the one described by Jorge Cherriz, find Xi’an Cuisine a welcoming, casual spot that suits both grown-up cravings and the needs of little ones, making it an excellent choice for any occasion.
While some have suggested enhancing the menu with more detailed descriptions to decode less familiar dishes, this minor quibble does little to detract from the overall experience. The warmth of the service and the evident care in each dish’s preparation truly make Xi’an Cuisine a standout destination for lovers of authentic Chinese flavors in Naperville.
Whether you’re seeking the fiery spice of Sichuan classics, the unique textures of Xi’an specialties, or a comfortable environment to share a satisfying meal, Xi’an Cuisine promises a richly rewarding culinary adventure that leaves you eager to return.
You already know it's a good one the moment you arrive since all the customers are Asian (if not specifically Chinese) except for one table. Lol. Definitely make a reservation for busy hours especially on the weekends. The food was so good! Prepare yourself for the level of spice if you're not used to it.
Tried Xi’an Cuisine in Naperville—no wait and prices were reasonable. The Sichuan dishes were the highlight: the lamb noodle soup (烩面) was flavorful and comforting, especially with white pepper and a splash of rice vinegar. The mapo tofu with fish slices was spicy and great with rice, though a bit heavy on chili oil. Xi’an-style snacks like the 肉夹馍 were just okay. Overall, a solid spot for Sichuan food.
One of the new Chinese restaurants I like a lot and want to go again. Good flavor with their dishes, generous portions, and good effort in service. Lots of people waited to get seats at 6, 7 pm on Saturday. Once seated, service was pretty fast.
Great selection of dishes and very generous portions. Everything we tried was delicious. However, there is one nuance with the menu: it’s not always clear what each dish actually is or what it’s made of. We would recommend adding more detailed descriptions or photos, because, for example, the “soups” section turned out to have dishes that were more like stir-fried meals rather than actual soups.
We recently visited Xian Cuisine as a family, and it was exactly what we were looking for! My wife is currently pregnant and had a craving for Thai food, while I was really in the mood for Chinese. To make it even more fun, we had our 2-year-old daughter with us, so we needed somewhere casual, welcoming, and family-friendly. Xian Cuisine checked all of those boxes. The best part about this place is that their menu has both authentic Thai and Chinese dishes, so no one had to compromise. My wife ordered a Thai dish, which was fresh, flavorful, and prepared just right — not overly spicy but still very tasty. I went with one of their Chinese entrées and was impressed with how balanced the flavors were and how generous the portions came out. Our little one was happy too, since there are plenty of rice and noodle dishes that work well for kids. Service was another highlight. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and they were very kind and patient with our toddler. The food came out quickly, which we always appreciate when dining with a young child. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed — nothing stuffy — which made it easy for us to enjoy a comfortable family meal. Overall, Xian Cuisine is a spot I’d recommend to anyone in the area, especially if you have a group with different cravings. It’s not always easy to find a restaurant that can deliver on both Thai and Chinese flavors at a high level, but they manage to do it. We left full, satisfied, and happy to know we found a go-to place we can all agree on. We’ll definitely be coming back! — Jorge L. Cherriz
Some of the best Chinese food in naperville everything was fresh and tasted great. Nice big chunks of orange chicken with a nice crunch. You can tell this was home made and not prepackaged. The fried rice was also perfect and tasted great. I will definitely be back in the future.
Xian is my go-to Chinese restaurant around Aurora and Naperville. The service is always fast, the food is incredibly good and very consistent, and the portions are a great size—they’re very generous. I especially love their shrimp wonton soup, and honestly, everything we’ve tried has been delicious. It never disappoints my family. The servers are always friendly and welcoming, with the best service among Chinese restaurants in the area—always smiling and attentive.
